RACING season

After getting snow pretty late we finally can train in Haidmühle (Bavarian Forest) on a nice groomed, hilly sprint trail since Dec.19th. With a lot of ATV and freerunning speed-training our dogs seem to be pretty good prepared for the following racing season. Michael is able to race on the Alpirace from Jan 4th to 12th. It´s a new world sprint class stage trophy in 3 Austrian places. They have a live video coverage of the race. Check for updates and info at www.alpirace.info

His additional races are the sprint races in Todtmoos (Black Forest) Jan 28th/29th, the European Championchips in Tarvisio/Italy Feb 3rd to 5th and the German Championchips in Carlsfeld on Feb 11th/12th. WE´re hoping our dogs stay healthy and happy and have fun travelling and running these upcoming races.
Check back for updates!
He probably only will start in the open/unlimited class because we lost our limited class lead dog Unox on Dec 5th. He died after fighting 6 weeks against a bad reaction on his yearly vaccination. We´re pretty sad about his dead and miss him very much. Unox was a very big hearted, people loving and always happy and active dog and in training this year it seems like he´ll be running best ever in his live.
We will keep him in our minds and race our dogs like he wanted to do it with his love and will to run. (this picture shows Unox and Cheyenne in lead on the race in Rauris 2005)

I made it!

Yesterday I could make my exam in Animal physiotherapy. I finished good and now I am a certified Animal Physiotherapist! I am really glad. :-)

I want to say thank you to my boy-friend Michael for his patience and support, thanks to his and my mom for believing in me and thanks to all our dogs for giving me energy and practical training.

Summertime

Summer is here (we think). The last week it was VERY rainy, but today sunshine raises the temperatures rapidly to 30°C. Not good for our shop, but for the soul... ;-)
The dogs really enjoy laying in the sun and relaxing. From time to time they do some of their favourite hobbys: chasing butterflies over the whole meadow until they fly away. They jump as they want to win a high and funny jump contest. It´s fun watching them having fun. Another favourite game is chasing the birds over the meadow and when they land on a tree, barking and yeeping to the bird : let´s play again. It really seems as the birds play with the dogs the fly up and down and right and left and the same again.
I am busy learning. Most thing is ok, but the muscles are the hardest thing and I am afraid forgetting something. But I know I can do it and so my day begins with learning, continues with working in the shop and ends with learning and doing some housework. I miss the time outside with the dogs, but there are only 2 1/2 weeks left and then I can change to another rhythm again.
I got the pics from our kennel rebuilding action , but I really was too lazy putting them in. I`ll do it at once. Unfortunately I haven´t made a picture from the finished nice cabin (really cosy and in Nordic style, white and blue...) but I´ll do it soon.
Enjoy summer and keep your spirits free and healthy.

Shys wondering what her humans are doing with all this gravel. She thinks that 75 tons of dog food would have been the better choice. Posted by Hello

ìt´s been a while...

It´s been a while since my last blog, but we´ve been pretty busy.
We`ve got 75 tons (!) of gravel for our new dog yard and we distributed almost everything by hand. Was a good fitness training :-) The dogs were looking pretty astonishid what we´re doing all the time, while they were relaxing in the sun pretty lazy (or looked outside from their dog houses when it rained)
The cabin is almost done. Last paintings and isolations are done by Michael and then still the glass for te windows and door has to be fit in. I think this week-end it´ll be ready to move in.
Since this week I spend my spare time with learning for the exam. July 31st will be soon. I´m missing the time outside with the dogs but otherwise I won´t have a chance to finish my exam; but maybe I`ll learn a bit outside on the terrace of the cabin (if the dogs let me....)
We decided that the big swim lake has to wait until next year due to a lack of time and money, because we still need a new wood stove, wood for heating, a new isolation of the house roof (my job after the exam) and the dog truck has to be rebuilt with new boxes and space for our eleven monster puppies. After we get them blood tested they´ll be ready to go for fall/winter training to Norway or Sweden with Michael and the other race dogs.
So far for today. As soon as I get the pictures developed I´ll post some. Enoy the sunshine and nature :-)

Tesla, my dog which I got from Kelley Griffin and brought from Alaska to Germany in 1999 thinks its HOT outside Posted by Hello

Summerwork

Sorry for my delay in writing. I´ll try to make a weekly update of news...
At the moment we´re very busy rebuilding the kennel. Next week we get a cabin, so will be able to spent all day next beside our dogs running free in the whole area at the kennel. The new part for the dogs in heat will be finished until then, too. This is very urgent, because they start getting their "spring feelings" and the girls get very attractive to the boys ;-)
After finishing this we plan to build a pool or little lake for the dogs and for my new job. We can do some endurance training with swimming and helping to build up muscles and strenght. We´re not sure yet which one we prefer: Michael wants a swim lake, because it fits better into the nature and seems to be very nice which all the plants in and around it. I tend to a pool, because it´s easier to clean and nicer to work in it. We´ll see...
Today it was a very hot day with temperatures something above 30°C and I hate it working inside the shop at such a beautiful and sunny day (although I prefer cooler temperatures or SNOW ) instead being outdoors with the dogs and Michael and enjoying the nature. It´s a real BIG temperature differnce to the last weeks with rain, rain and some more rain. The gras loves it and grows into the air, faster as I can cut it (because of being wet all time), so our meadow around the garden has a very natural looking style right now :-) But I think painting and rebuilding fences for the new kennel area is more urgent than keeping the meadow in shape. DOGS FIRST!
Hope you have a great time outside and we´ll see us soon ( no matter of virtual or via email or by stopping by for a good cup of coffee (or two...) when everything is finished (can a dog yard be finally finished ?!!)). Melli and the Doggies

Sorry and hello...

Hello my friends...
I´m sure you´re wondering why only Riddick says "Hello" to you. I did it, too yesterday but then I wanted to change something and unfortunately I deleted the whole message. I´m sorry. Have to get used to the blogger... :-)
I hope to get you informed about our latest kennel news and what´ll happen with my new job the animal physiotherapy ( which I will start soon).
Have fun and enjoy a glimpse into our life here in South-East Bavaria with great doggies and a tiny bit of "Alaskan lifestyle in Germany". Melli
